Daith Piercing Update – 1 year later

I cannot believe it’s been a year since I had my daith’s pierced.

I have had a few instances of headaches, but, not migraines. I believe these were allergy related and sometimes from being tired.

Everything is all healed and most days I don’t even know they are there.

I recently visited my piercer to show him how great they look and to give him an update. He’s so happy that it worked for me.

I know it doesn’t work for everyone, I’m very, very grateful that it works for me.

After 27 years of having a migraine that put me in bed, dark room, nausea, depressing thoughts, 3-4 times a week, it’s finally over. I lost entire chunks of my life to migraine’s.

It all started when I had my tubal a year after my last child was born. Then, something happened in my body and I would get a migraine. I would, I had to, work through it when my kids were little. I didn’t have anyone else there. Just me when my husband was deployed.

No doctor could help. I was given many different prescriptions to try. They all failed.

This piercing changed my life. My daughter has had the same results as well. Read through all of the posts within the category piercing here and you can see how it changed my life.

Breaking the cabin fever run!

We had a blizzard here in Maryland I couldn’t run outside at all. I couldn’t even go outside. So, once the blizzard was finished I broke my cabin fever with a run outside. It felt good to use my muscles and I broke in my new shoes with the first outside run since I bought them!

I held back a little on my pace as I was running intervals and I wasn’t sure if there were puddles or ice. I also ran on a slightly hilly route here locally so I didn’t have to drive. I was actually happy with my time and pace since I haven’t run in a while.

Running Shoes

Over the past few months I’ve noticed that my knee (IT Band) hurts when I get to a certain pace. I decided to go into a running store, get refitted and run on the treadmill to see if I’m striking weird or something.

I went to the new Pacers that opened up last Fall near the Navy Yard. Since hubby works nearby, I had lunch with him first. I took my Ravenna 4’s in and had them look at how they fit me and I ran on the treadmill with the shoes I ended up getting.

One of my feet is larger than the other, so, instead of getting the size 6 there in the store, I ordered a pair of 5.5’s. My heel was slipping out of my right shoe when I was walking, that’s not good for running!

I’m a neutral runner and I was in a pair of shoes that corrects, so, my body was compensating for the correction. I’ll get them soon and run with them. Hopefully this helps my issue. Along with strength training, I’ll be back to running 10+ miles a week!

These are so pretty! They are Brooks Glycerin 13’s, in rose. So girlie! They felt so good on my feet I didn’t want to take them off.

They don’t have an actual store front sign yet, but, if you Google Pacer’s Navy Yard, the address comes up and gets you in the general direction. They are between to places to eat.

I didn’t take any photos of the gals that helped me, but, everyone was super nice. I ended up buying a hat, gloves and some new socks.

Treadmill Training Run – 1

The gym here opened up a couple of weeks ago. I’ve been there a few times, classes, weights and now I’ve done a treadmill run. I had NO issues with my knee at all on the treadmill. In fact it felt so good at the two mile point, I did my virtual 5K! I was a few days late, but, oh well! Yay!

I cannot say that the treadmill is my favorite way to run, but, at 17°F it was how I ran that day. I haven’t been on a treadmill in two years, so, getting everything adjusted and figuring out what to watch on the TV was a little time consuming. I’m used to just running.
